SFAC KeralaAffected plant wilts, leaves change to dull green and the lower stalks become straw coloured. Reddish discolouration occurs inside the infected stalk. The internodal pith tissues disintegrate, leaving only the vascular bundles. Fungus enters through roots and grows up in to lower stem.The affected plants show rotting of the roots, plant base and lower internodes.
Application of pottasic fertilizers reduces infection .
Seed from infected areas should not be used .
